At a time when Miami’s literary culture is flourishing, the Knight Foundation awarded Reading Queer with a $30,000 Knight Arts Challenge grant to foster & promote queer literary culture in South Florida.
Now, I need your donation to continue building safe spaces for the writerly needs of all queer-identified people who have too often been denied a voice. Through our programming–The Reading Queer Writing Academy and the annual Reading Queer Literary Festival–RQ aims to inspire and prepare members of the queer community to tap into the powerful potential inherent to the act and the art of writing–something that we believe to be as timely as it is crucial, perhaps now more than ever.
What’s even more crucial is keeping all Reading Queer events open to the public regardless of one’s ability to pay. Your donation enables us to create affordable, yet innovative programming and demonstrate how literature can be used as a medium to improve, empower, and enrich the creative lives of the queer community.
