The first inaugural Reading Queer Festival will come to a close with “Sacrilegion: The Gospel Truth”, a choral performance of L. Lamar Wilson’s prize-winning first collection of poems.
Wilson will be accompanied by a vocal and musical artists Carl DuPont, Lloyd Reshard Jr. & Leo Williams.

About L. Lamar Wilson: L. LAMAR WILSON has poems in or forthcoming in African American Review, Los Angeles Review, jubilat, The 100 Best African American Poems, The New Sound, Black Gay Genius, and other journals and anthologies. Sacrilegion, his first collection, was selected by Lee Ann Brown for the Carolina Wren Press Poetry Series. Individual poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and won the 2011 Beau Boudreaux Poetry Prize. Wilson has received fellowships from the Cave Canem Foundation, the Callaloo Workshops, the Alfred E. Knobler Scholarship Fund, and the Arts and Sciences Foundation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he’s pursuing a doctorate in African American and multiethnic American poetics.
About Carl DuPont: CARL DUPONT is an assistant professor of voice at University of North Carolina at Charlotte. As a music director he has led choirs in Martinsville, Miami, Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Rochester, and New York City. As a singer he recently made his El Palacio de Bellas Artes debut as Jim in Porgy and Bess in Mexico City. Other roles include Uberto in La Serva Padrona, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Taxi Black in One Touch of Venus with the Oper Leipzig, and the title role of Don Giovanni with Capitol Heights Lyric Opera. Carl received a Bachelor’s degree from Eastman School of Music and a Master’s degree from Indiana University and was awarded Performer’s Certificates at both institutions. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Frost School of Music, as a recipient of the prestigious University of Miami Fellowship, researching the issue of diversity and inclusion in higher music education.
About Lloyd Reshard: Bass-Baritone LLOYD RESHARD, an alumni of University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, has been singing and residing in Miami-Dade County since 2001. He has performed as featured soloist with Klezmer Company Orchestra of FAU, Brandon Opalka’s The Compromise exhibit as well as MasterWorks Chorale of West Palm Beach, Naples Opera Guild, Naples Bach Ensemble, and much more. A recitalist at heart, Lloyd’s concert “Over Jordan: A Journey of African-American History in Song” premiered at Arts at St. Johns in February of 2012 and has since branched out into several historical vocal presentations on the African-American and Jewish cultures progressive musical relationship, performing for Next@19th’s Guava Rugelach Festival, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial at The Betsy Hotel and Temple Israel’s Memorial Shabbat service. In addition to his recital work, Lloyd is also an Associate Chorister of Florida Grand Opera for over 7 seasons, and coaches voice privately.
