Carrie Sieh donates 3 works of art to Reading Queer

Reading Queer is happy to announce that artist Carrie Sieh has donated 3 works of art to Reading Queer for our annual summer fun(d)raiser. Sieh’s donation will help us fulfill our mission to improve, empower and enrich the lives of the queer community through the act & the art of creative writing by enabling us to hire writers, teachers and mentors. Her donation and yours will also enables us to launch the inaugural and, most importantly, first ever queer literary festival in Miami, which runs from August 22nd – August 30th 2014.

Carrie Sieh is a mixed media artist whose mediums include painting, textiles, photography, and repurposed materials. Her practice focuses primarily on the roles of technology, psychology, and political economy in human behavior. For her recent solo exhibition, “Textiles for Men and Machine Breakers”, she interpreted the cultural history of post-industrial-revolution masculinity as a series of large, mixed-media works based on quiltmaking techniques and motifs.
